FPCD participates at Harvard Global Health Opportunities Fair

The Foundation for Post Conflict Development is honoured to announced that Advisor David Gethings will represent the FPCD on February 8, 2008, at Harvard's Global Opportunities Health Fair for Undergraduates in order to raise awareness of global health problems. The Health Fair is taking place due to the initiative of the Harvard Undergratduate Global Health Forum (HUGH Forum), a group founded by Harvard Student Ivan Kotchetkov. The event will not only raise awareness of global health problems in a holistic manner, but will also connect students with opportunities in non-governmental organizations to engage in health field work abroad.

The event will be primarily focused on the 6700 undergraduate students enrolled at Harvard, attracting students of all years and concentrations with the goal of integrating an experience with organizations like the FPCD into their future global health plans. At the same time outreach through respective student organizations and career offices will ensure a strong presence of graduate and professional students from all of Harvard's schools.

At the Global Health Opportunities Fair, FPCD joins representatives from prestigious organizations such as the Clinton Foundation, Physicians for Human Rights, Unite for Sight and Partners in Health. More information can be found by visiting the Harvard Forum Website at www.hughforum.org.

In the same vein, FPCD Executive Director Claudia Abate has been invited to speak at Harvard in March about the global health challenges, the FPCD is addressing, such as through the Prince Rainier III Maternity Clinic in Timor-Leste.
